The Gift Is Not About You Walking by the Spirit in Our Talent
Spiritual gifts are not personal platforms; they are divine assignments. In this message, Pastor Steve brings us back to John 13 and 1 Corinthians 12–13 to rediscover the true purpose of the gifts God has entrusted to His people. Jesus redefined leadership by taking up a towel, and Paul reminds us that every gift is given “for the common good.”
But what happens when gifts operate without love? Activity can increase while edification decreases. Ministry can look effective while motives drift. Through Galatians 5, we are confronted with two paths: serving in the flesh or serving by the Spirit. The difference is not visibility, but fruit.
The fruit of the Spirit is love.
This sermon challenges believers to examine not just how they serve, but why they serve and invites those who do not yet know Christ to receive the One who served us first. Walking by the Spirit means using your gift to serve others through love, because the gift was never about you, it was always about Him.
