Devotional: Who Are You, Lord? A Life-Changing Question
Devotional: Who Are You, Lord?
A Life-Changing Question
Acts 9:5 (NASB 1995):
“And he said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.’”
Saul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus was a divine interruption that changed everything. In one moment, Saul’s plans, beliefs, and understanding of the truth were overturned. The blinding light and Jesus’ words exposed Saul’s sin and spiritual blindness, forcing him to confront the reality he had been resisting: Jesus was alive, and the gospel was true.
This moment didn’t come out of nowhere. Saul had heard Stephen’s testimony and heard the gospel before, but it wasn’t until God’s perfect timing that these seeds of truth took root. It reminds us that God’s Word never returns void and that His grace is always at work, even when we don’t realize it.
Saul’s story challenges us to examine our own lives. Are there areas where we’ve been resisting God’s truth? Have pride, tradition, or misplaced loyalty blinded us? When we encounter God’s Word, do we allow it to reveal and transform our hearts?
God’s conviction is an act of grace, leading us from darkness into light. Like Saul, we are all invited to ask the question, “Who are You, Lord?” and to respond in faith when Jesus reveals Himself.
Reflection Question: How has God interrupted your life to draw you closer to Him?
Application: Examining Your Heart
As believers, we must regularly reflect on our lives in light of God’s Word. Saul’s story challenges us to ask:
Are there areas where I’ve resisted God’s truth?
Have I allowed traditions, pride, or misplaced loyalties to blind me to what God is doing?
When was the last time God’s Word convicted me, challenged me, and brought me to repentance?
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword… it judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for shining Your light into our lives, exposing the areas where we need You most. Help us to respond to Your conviction with humility and faith. Align our hearts with Your truth and transform us to live for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge for the Week:
Take time this week to reflect on your own “Who are You, Lord?” moment. Write down the ways God has interrupted your life to reveal His truth and how He’s calling you to respond. Share your testimony with someone as a reminder of His grace and transforming power.
